A Problem with Architecture

White House smells of Parthenon Have you ever looked at a soulless plot of land, ready for cookie-cutter development and realized that residential homes have not come very far in the last 5 decades? Well, I have, and it is a sh*^^y sight to see. You see one problem that I have with current residential architecture is that it is stagnant. Even the very beautiful Victorian homes that grace San Franciscan hills are dormant of creativity because in a way the designers back then were more interested in preserving older concepts than creating new ones. This is felt mostly in the Greek Revival homes that then went out of fashion replaced by Gothic Era, Italianate, and Neo-Classicism. Yet the one thing they all share in common is their plagiarism of structures that were used to honor deities. In the Greek revival, or Athenian copy and paste era, we see the use of high columns, to create a deep sense of space that is almost overbearing and that's because it was a space designed to h

Pueblo Noir: Hotel Congress' 90th Birthday Bash

If you were unfortunate enough last night to be nowhere near Club Congresss let me just tell you a bit of what you missed. It was opening night for the 5th annual Tucson Film Festival: A mental wonder of epic audio and visual proportions. I admitted got there late, just in time to catch an amazing group, La Chat Lunatique . They were an amazing live set that performed what can arguable be called gypsy jazz. A energetic lead singer, the guitar and bass players were powerful, while the drums really held the smooth rhythm through out the night. Aurelia Cohen, performing in the lobby was just amazing in her black and white striped outfit, with masquerade masque on. Her spinning was dizzyfying, the mood rich, as she traversed her oval o'steel creating shapes of both strength and grace. On the outside there were complete Installations of voluntary impromptu, percussion, string, and vibrational metal that often coalesced into something a higher form than just noise, but enjoyable. Los Angeles as a Center for Influential Change in the Green Movement

Los Angeles as a Center for Influential Change in the Green Movement The city of Los ANgeles was a vast concrete incubation chamber of western society, as interpreted by Southern California. When people try to compare the Dichotomy of North and South California, the are making a distinction between the OUtdoor Lifestyles Crowd and LA. San Diego is so unique, but not a s influential as LA, that it has to be said to be its own entity, in the way that San Francisco as a City does not fully encompass the identity of Nor Cal. My time in the city has brought upon some cultural/social realizations about where LA as a city is headed in the near future. A city of vast stereotypes, cultural critiques and plastic surgery lays before me nebulas and yet so full of color. Like a melting pot of cultural soup but you can identify all of the parts. From the large and dynamic Persian Population, to the equally stereotyped Jewish community, LA is a place of image and status, more so than any other Cit

Strange Compliments I've Received

We have all received a compliment that we didn't know what to make of it, or just thought WTF? Your sure its not a bad thing, just not what you normally expect, here are mine. Your good looking, like a video game character. Your cute, but your dangerous I can tell. (How do cute things look dangerous?) Your like a Sand Trap Land Mine, but in a good way. You look like Jacob from Twilight. I love that your Native American, I always wanted to be Native. (Who wants my kind of Governmental abuse?) This article will probably be updated as they become stranger.

Smoking Scorpions

There are some fashions that only a handful of people can pull off. And their are some ideas that only a handful of people can accomplish, and sometimes, there are things so outrageous that when anyone else presents them it seems crazy, but let me tell you now, Ricky Vegas is bringing in: scorpion venom smoking. After some people told me it was outrageous to even eat them, a brave spirit stepped forward and said, lets smoke that. It was the weirdest relaxing and calming herb/substance I have ever smoked. She said i would become a scorpion, and for a few hours I did notice a strange hyper active sensation of my body. I will continue to investigate and experiment into this territory. PETA makes me want to hurt animals

The title isn't true, just eye catching. So PETA has been going crazy for years. And this just upsets me since I come from a background of overweight family. So yeah I mean just check this billboard out, do we really need this kind of Vegetarianism in the U.S.? Short answer, No. http://airamerica.com/montelacrossamerica/blog/2009/aug/19/fat-women-beached-whales-audio
